Located an hour outside of North Carolina’s Research Triangle, Henderson enjoys a small-town feel and proximity to Kerr Lake, making it an enticing destination for families. Vance County School District adds to the allure of Henderson through its commitment to providing a world-class education. As we moved from the strategic plan phase to the branding stage, we wanted to capture the following questions: Who was Vance County Schools, and what made them different? After our brand immersion workshop, which yielded over 15 participants, it became clear that the people who made up the district had a fierce passion for their work and were striving to better the lives of their students. We wanted to tap into the humanity of education, both in their visual identity and messaging systems.

Looking to capture their new path, our team completely redesigned the identity to make a bolder statement that included a modern yet edgy design.

“It was important to us to highlight Vance’s commitment to various pathways for students while also conveying their relationship-centered environment,” said Michael Belton, Associate Creative Director.

From the enhanced colors, shape, and texture the new logo provided, the identity presented a school district that better aligned not with where they are but with where they wanted to go.
